Death cafe at Bedlam Festival
04/10/2019 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm
FreeAt a Death Cafe people, often strangers, gather to eat cake, drink tea and discuss death. A Death Cafe is a group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes, with the aim ‘to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives’.
This Death Cafe is being held as part of Birmingham’s BEDLAM Festival, designed to raise awareness, and encourage people to think and talk about mental health and the arts.
Grief and loss have significant impacts on mental health, and while a Death Cafe is not a grief counselling session, we hope this will help people think about how they can prepare for loss as well as contemplate their own and other’s mortality.
The Death Cafe is being held at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, and run in partnership with BrumYODO.
The event is free, but places must be pre-booked via eventbrite.
